In the wake of last month's terrorist attack outside the Red Fort, Delhi Police has made strict security arrangements for the New Year's Eve crowds. Connaught Place and Khan Market in the New Delhi district are home to over 600 bars, pubs, restaurants, and five-star hotels, making this district the largest influx of people from Delhi-NCR.

In view of this, increased security arrangements have been made in the New Delhi district. Paramilitary forces have already been deployed in major markets such as Hauz Khas, Sports Village, Green Park, South Ex, Greater Kailash M Block, Saket, Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Mahipalpur, and Aero City.

On the evening of December 31, Delhi Police will be deployed as needed in all major markets. To deter criminals before the New Year, the Southern Range Police launched Operation Aaghat 3.0. Police raided 1,700 locations in the South and Southeast districts and arrested 3,964 people. Following this, other police forces have also begun preparations.

Speaking about the security arrangements, Delhi Police spokesperson and Additional Commissioner of Police said, "The PCR unit has been put on full alert. PCR patrols will be increased starting on the evening of the 31st, and quick reaction teams will also be deployed at various locations. As needed, scaffolding and barricades have been erected at street corners, entry and exit points, and in all major markets. Police stations and traffic police equipped with PA systems will be deployed at various locations."

To thwart any untoward incident on the scale of a terror attack, the Special Cell's SWAT squad will be deployed at some potential locations. Police will keep an eye on all bars, pubs, hotels, and restaurants.
