Karur Stampede: Days after the disastrous stampede at actor and politician Vijay’s rally in Tamil Nadu’s Karur, which resulted in the death of 41 people, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Khusbu Sundar called the incident ‘planned’ and ‘created’.
The BJP leader further lashed out at the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Chief Minister MK Stalin for ‘not providing’ enough space to Vijay to hold a rally.
"The entire people of Tamil Nadu believe that there was complete negligence. It seems like it was a created calamity because DMK knew the kind of crowd Vijay was going to garner - despite this, they did not give him a proper space to conduct the rally. MK Stalin is in a mute mode now and not answering questions. 40 people died. He should speak now; someone needs to unmute him," Sundar said.
A deadly stampede occurred at Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, after an alleged power outage, which resulted in the death of 41 people. At least 60 others were injured due to the stampede at Vijay’s rally on September 27.
Tamil Nadu Govt Denies Power Outage At Vijay’s Rally
Releasing a video of overcrowding at Vijay’s rally, the Tamil Nadu government alleged the violation of guidelines. In the videos released by the state government, TVK cadres are seen climbing on the roof at the Namakkal-Karur campaign.
The Tamil Nadu government has also rejected the claims of power supply being suspended during the rally, leading to a stampede, which killed 40 people. Rejecting the power supply disruption, the government said that a heavy crowd surged towards the electricity generator enclosure, leading to the focus light near the spot going off.

A panel of NDA MPs tasked with looking into the circumstances leading to the September 27 stampede questioned the choice of the venue allotted for party chief, actor Vijay's rally.
