Cyclone Shakhti Impact on Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for possible heavy rain in Ahmedabad in the aftermath of Cyclone Shakhti's landfall. As Cyclone begins to weaken after making landfall, Ahmedabad is expected to receive bouts of heavy rain and thunderstorms in the coming days.
The city is likely to experience cloudy skies and humid weather for the coming few days before clearer skies come into the picture later this week.
Gujarat Weather Update: Thunderstorm Alert From Oct 8
The landfall of Cyclone Shakhti seems not to be making a major impact on weather conditions in Gujarat, with major parts of the state only expected to receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms at a few places till October 7.
All the Gujarat districts have been placed under a yellow alert on Wednesday, October 8, for a high possibility of Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30-40 kmph accompanied by light to moderate rain at isolated places.
On Thursday, October 9, several districts have been placed under a yellow alert, except a few like Surrendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagarh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, and surrounding districts.
Cyclone Shakhti Landfall And Impact
- Cyclone Shakti has made its way over the northwest and adjoining west-central Arabian Sea, but is now weakening. Despite this, its circulation is still affecting the weather in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad.
-The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns of rough seas and gusty winds along coastal areas until Monday. Although the cyclone is expected to recurve eastward and weaken, it may still bring occasional showers and thunderstorms to parts of the state.
