In Madhya Pradesh, a paramilitary and police personnel, who are supposed to uphold the law, were themselves involved in dangerous acts while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
On Monday evening in Bhopal, four pedestrians were injured when a speeding car driven by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) constable crashed into them near the Bhopal railway station. The accused, identified as Constable Rajendra, attempted to flee the scene but was stopped by bystanders and handed over to the police.
The incident occurred around 8 pm on the road leading to Platform No. 6. Rajendra, a resident of the ITBP campus in Kokta, had driven his private car to the station to pick up a guest but lost control and hit four people at different points along the busy road.
Bhopal’s Station House Officer Ajay Soni confirmed that all four injured victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital and are undergoing treatment, with none reported in critical condition. Eyewitnesses claimed the driver appeared intoxicated. The police have sent Rajendra for a medical examination to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
“A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered. Further action will depend on the medical report,” said SHO Soni.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the constable was speeding on a crowded road. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to establish the full sequence of events. The ITBP has been informed, and departmental action is expected once investigations conclude.

Just two hours after this incident, around 10:30 pm, in Indore’s Raoji Bazaar area, three serving policemen drove under the influence of alcohol. Eyewitnesses reported that a white car with three uniformed policemen, allegedly intoxicated, nearly hit two young women who had gone to a pharmacy. When the women raised an alarm, the men sped off and ran over four to five bystanders during their escape attempt.
Local residents chased the vehicle and surrounded it, only to discover that the occupants were policemen: Constable Anil from Sanyogitaganj Police Station, Head Constable Sudarshan Herve from Bhanwarkuan, and Constable Vedant from Azad Nagar. However, the trio managed to flee before authorities could arrive.
