Wayanad Landslide News: The death toll from a series of landslides that struck Wayanad on Tuesday has risen to over 200, with the official count standing at 190, according to Kerala Revenue Minister K Rajan. With nearly 200 people still missing, the toll is expected to climb further. More than 225 others have been injured, primarily in the hardest-hit areas of Mundakkai and Chooralmala, officials said. Rescue efforts have been severely hindered by numerous challenges, including treacherous terrain caused by destroyed roads and bridges, and a shortage of heavy equipment, making it difficult for emergency personnel to clear the mud and large uprooted trees that have fallen on houses and other buildings.
