Indian Army found four individuals who were stranded in Padavetti Kunnu, Wayanad following the landslide that occurred last Saturday. The operation was carried out with precision and care, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved, said Indian Army in an official statement. In order to help the rescue, an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) was launched and a casualty evacuation was operated.

The prompt response and flawless implementation of the operation ensured the timely evacuation of the stranded individuals. The rescued people include two males and two females. One of the rescued females is experiencing difficulties with her leg and is receiving necessary medical attention, the official statement added.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to landslides has crossed the 300 mark. Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that the current death toll stands at 308, as reported by news agency ANI.

The rescue and relief operations are underway in Chooralmala and Mundakkai in the Meppadi region where the landslides wreaked havoc. Minister George said that 195 bodies and 113 body parts have been recovered so far.

A Defence statement said that high earth movement equipment was shifted to the other side and vehicle movement was being regulated by the civil administration.

The personnel also held a meeting at Wayanad District Collector's office. The officials said that search operations by relief teams along with dog squads started at 7 am today. This includes 10 teams comprising 30 members each formed from Armed Forces personnel including Police.

In order to speed up the rescue operation, ten specialised teams, equipped with all necessary rescue apparatus, including dog squads and heavy earth-moving equipment have been formed. These teams commenced the combing operations early morning through six designated zones: Punchirimattom, Mundekkai, School area, Chooralmala town, Village area, and Downstream, ensuring a thorough and efficient search and relentless rescue mission, according to a statement by Southern Command Indian Army.

Former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited the affected sites on Thursday. They met the people in the affected areas and will also stay in the district on Friday.
