Weather In Chennai: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) heavy rain is expected to lash multiple Tamil Nadu districts, including Chennai over the weekend. On January 10, Chennai is expected to witness moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Similar weather conditions are likely to continue till Sunday, January 11. As per IMD, a deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal is the cause of widespread rain activity, mainly along Tamil Nadu’s coast.

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast
January 9: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts and Karaikal area. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur and Mayiladuthurai districts.
January 10: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Cuddalore districts, Puducherry and Karaikal area. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chengalpattu, Villuppuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram districts.

January 11: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu (at many places over Coastal Tamil adu and at a few places over Interior Tamil Nadu), Puducherry and Karaikal area with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places.
January 12: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
January 13: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over South Tamil Nadu. Dry weather is likely to prevail over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
