Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday has forecast cold wave conditions in northern and central regions, rainfall in southern states, and dense fog in the eastern parts of the country. IMD stated that northern parts of the country continue to get influenced by a Western disturbance.
Southern states, including Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, have witnessed heavy rainfall in the last few days. The education minister of Puducherry, Namachivayam, on Thursday declared that all the schools and colleges of the state will remain closed on Friday. Many parts of Tamil Nadu, including the capital city Chennai, have been facing issues like waterlogging because of the heavy rainfall.

Delhi/NCR is set to experience cold wave conditions in the isolated areas with mostly clear skies over the next few days. While the national capital city might experience a sudden dip in temperature, smog and mist are likely during the evening and night hours. The city will see northern winds ranging from 6–14 kmph, contributing to the dip in temperature. Residents of the city are allowed to limit their outings and follow the guidelines.

The IMD has forecast that temperature changes are anticipated in East and West India, signaling the onset of harsher winter conditions.
Apart from this, dense fog is expected during late-night and early-morning hours in states like West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar until December 13. The IMD further stated that other northern states are likely to experience dense fog until December 17.
