Weather Update: Weather patterns are shifting across several parts of India. While some states recently experienced relief from rainfall, others continue to face extreme heat. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), conditions are expected to change in the coming days, with a mix of rising temperatures and rainfall likely in different regions.
Delhi Weather
In Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), the intense heat has returned. The IMD forecasts that temperatures may reach a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius. Strong surface winds are expected during the day. Rain is likely in Delhi around May 25.
Bihar, Uttar Pradesh Weather Update
In Bihar, temperatures continue to rise. The IMD has issued a heatwave alert for several districts including Patna and Gopalganj. Similar conditions are being reported from parts of Uttar Pradesh as well, where heatwave warnings have been issued for about 30 districts for the next three days. Western UP may see temperatures between 38 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of light rain and strong winds.
Weather: Punjab, Haryana, Himachal IMD Forecast
Meanwhile, the impact of a western disturbance and two cyclonic circulations is expected to bring weather changes to North-West India. Rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on May 13. Himachal Pradesh may experience rain on 16–17 May. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh could witness moderate rainfall with winds up to 50 kmph on 14 May.
Very Heavy Rain Likely In Assam, Meghalaya
In the northeast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh until May 16. Other states including Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may experience heavy showers until May 15.
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana Weather
Southern states are also likely to witness changing weather. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka are expected to receive scattered to moderate rainfall between May 13 and 16. Thunderstorms and strong winds of up to 70 kmph may occur in some areas. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rayalaseema and coastal Karnataka during this period.
Rain Likely In Goa, Konkan, Marathwada
Western India, particularly Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms between May 13 and 16.
