The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday has forecast rainfall in southern states, cold wave conditions in northern states, and dense fog in the eastern states of the country. The forecast suggested that the northern region of the country will continue to get influenced by a Western disturbance.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall across many southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Karnataka, due to a new low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal. The weather department stated that the rain is expected to continue till December 16. However, the IMD stated that most of west-central India, as well as parts of northeast India, are expected to receive above-normal rainfall throughout December. The fishermen and residents of the coastal regions were advised to follow the guidelines and local advisories.
Delhi/NCR is set to experience cold wave conditions with mostly clear skies over the next few days. While the national capital city might experience a sudden dip in temperature, smog and mist are likely during the evening and night hours. The city will see northern winds ranging from 6–14 kmph, contributing to the dip in temperature. Residents of the city are requested to limit their outings and follow the guidelines. Delhi is predicted to experience a minimum and maximum temperature of 14.08 degrees Celsius and 22.86 degrees Celsius, respectively, on December 15.
Several of the states, including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, are expected to witness cold waves over the next few days as the temperature in parts of Rajasthan has dipped to 1 degree Celsius. The IMD has forecast that temperature changes are anticipated in East and West India, signaling the onset of harsher winter conditions.

Apart from this, dense fog is expected during late-night and early-morning hours in states like West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar until December 16. The IMD further stated that other northern states are likely to experience dense fog until December 17.
