Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday stated that several states are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. However, some of the major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, are likely to witness several issues, including waterlogging and power outages. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

These states to receive rainfall

While providing details, the weather department stated several states, including Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Jammu and Kashmir, are likely to witness rainfall in the upcoming few days. The IMD also stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, parts of Telangana, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Gujarat on Saturday.

Apart from this, multiple regions, including coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Vidarbha, have received rainfall in the last 24 hours. The IMD stated that moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in the Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Konkan and Goa, and Gangetic West Bengal regions. The weather department stated that light rains were recorded over Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, West Madhya Pradesh, interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Rain causes waterlogging in Mumbai, nearby regions

The weather department also stated that continuous rain in Mumbai and surrounding districts for the last 24 hours has led to waterlogging in several key areas. It stated that the rainfall has provided relief to the residents from the scorching heat. The local administration has advised citizens to limit their outings, as several regions are witnessing flood-like situations. The commuters are advised to check the advisories and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconveniences.
