Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several southern and western states are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the temperature in the northern states has dipped significantly in the past week. Apart from this, the hilly states are expected to witness snowfall, leading to a dip in the temperature. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to waterlogging in the key cities, including Chennai and Mumbai, causing inconveniences to the commuters. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Southern States To Witness Rain: IMD
While providing details, the weather department stated that several states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Telangana, are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The coastal regions are also expected to receive thunderstorms and gusty winds, along with heavy rainfall. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to flood-like situations in the lower regions and traffic disruption in the cities. The weather department has advised the fishermen to follow the guidelines and maintain a distance from the water bodies to avoid inconveniences.

Hilly States To Receive Snowfall
The IMD stated that the hilly states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, are set to receive snowfall on Thursday. Several key cities, such as Chamba, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Kangra, witnessed rainfall on Wednesday. While providing details, the weather department stated that while Rohtang received six inches of snowfall, the Shinkula, Baralacha, and Kunzum passes received up to 10 inches of snow.

The weather department stated that the northern states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Delhi-NCR, are likely to witness a significant dip in temperature in the upcoming days.
