Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that several northern states are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the upcoming few days. The weather department stated that the rainfall will reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. The IMD also stated that the western and southern states are expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall until June 20. Apart from rainfall, these states are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 60 to 80 kmph. The weather department has advised the residents of these states to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
The residents of Delhi-NCR and parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are expected to get relief from the scorching heat in the upcoming two to three days. The IMD stated that rainfall in the national capital on Sunday reduced the maximum temperature by almost three degrees Celsius.
While providing details, the weather department stated that while the maximum temperature of Delhi-NCR was calculated at 35.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the minimum temperature remained at 20 degrees Celsius. The weather department stated that the eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh and most of the Bihar districts are set to receive rainfall due to a western disturbance.
Apart from this, the weather department also stated that several other states, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, are also likely to receive light to heavy rainfall. While the coastal regions are likely to witness heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the other parts are likely to expect light rain.
The IMD stated that while the rainfall will provide relief from the heat, it will lead to other issues such as waterlogging and power outages. It also advised the residents of the coastal regions to avoid any financial activities during the rainfall.
