Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast that several regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will experience heavy snowfall on Monday and Tuesday. The IMD has also released an orange alert for snowfall in the upper regions of Himachal Pradesh and rain for the plains of the state.

The weather department stated that the western winds will now move towards the east because of an active western disturbance, increasing temperature in a few regions. Several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Moradabad, Sambhal, Amroha, Rampur, and Bijnor, are expected to experience rainfall on January 6 due to the western disturbance.

Besides, the weather department has also forecast that residents of Delhi are going to experience a cold wave and dense fog for the next few days. The cold wave is expected to be the reason behind a dip in temperature, and dense fog has affected the visibility in the national capital.

The IMD further stated that several districts of Haryana, including Sirsa, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bhivani, Jind, Ambala, and Karnal, are expected to experience a significant dip in temperature in the upcoming days. Similar weather conditions will be experienced by the residents of Bathinda, Barnala, Moga, and Chandigarh of Punjab.

Apart from that, the weather department stated that states like Bihar and Jharkhand are also expected to experience a cold wave for the next two days, adding that dense fog will continue to affect the visibility in these states.

Earlier on Sunday, the IMD predicted a dip in temperature and cold wave in Bengaluru over the next two to three days. Apart from Bengaluru, several other cities of Karnataka are also expected to face similar situations over this period of time.

The weather department also stated that Silicon City is likely to witness foggy mornings. The residents of Bengaluru were advised to avoid unnecessary outings, especially in the early hours of the day.
