Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that weather conditions in several states are likely to change in the upcoming few days. The weather department stated that several states, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, UP, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, are expected to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next three to four days. It stated that the rainfall will reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. The weather department also stated that along with rain, these states are also expected to receive thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The weather department informed the residents of Delhi-NCR that they are likely to witness cloudy skies along with light rain on Sunday. It also stated that the residents are also likely to experience gusty winds with speeds of 60 kmph for a few hours, adding that the change in weather will lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 38 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is likely to be around 26 degrees Celsius.

The IMD stated that several southern and eastern states are also expected to receive light to heavy rainfall till June 5. An advisory from the Karnataka government informed that pre-monsoon rainfall in the state has broken a 125-year-old record. The advisory stated that 71 people have already lost their lives due to excessive pre-monsoon rains in the state since April. While providing details, it stated that the state usually receives 74 mm of rain in May, but the actual rainfall was 219 mm, which is 197 per cent more than the average normal rainfall.

The weather department has advised the residents of these states to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
