Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday stated that several states are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for at least the next four days. Along with rainfall, at least nine states across the country are set to experience lightning and thunderstorms. The temperature is set to drop temporarily due to the continuous rain; however, the situation will be back to normal in the next week. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and plan their days accordingly to avoid inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several states and UTs, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Karnataka, are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall at least till February 26. It further stated that the southern regions of Tamil Nadu and Kerala are set to receive rainfall on February 21 and 22.

The continuous rainfall in these states is likely to lead to waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences for the commuters. The weather department has directed the district administrations to make all the necessary arrangements to avoid any inconveniences. It also advised the fishermen of the coastal regions to avoid going near the water bodies for the next few days.

As per the weather department, the maximum temperatures in northern states are expected to gradually increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next seven days. The IMD further stated that the temperatures in central India are also expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees over the next two days.

The hilly regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are also set to witness rainfall and fresh snowfall for the next few days, leading to a drop in temperature. The tourists have been advised to stay updated and plan their travel accordingly.
