Delhi's Red Fort, and other prominent religious places across the country, including a temple in Chandni Chowk, could be on the target list of Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, news agency ANI reported, quoting intelligence. As per the sources quoted by the agency, relying on the information received from security agencies, the terror group may be plotting an improvised explosive device (IED) attack.
Sources alleged that the terror outfit is seeking to avenge the February 6 attack on a Shia mosque in Pakistan’s capital, which killed 31 people, injuring over 160 others.

"Blast alert in front of the Red Fort in Delhi. Terrorists may target a temple in Chandni Chowk. Lashkar-e-Taiba is plotting an IED attack. They are planning a major terrorist attack in India to avenge the February 6th mosque blast in Islamabad, Pakistan. Major temples in the country can be targeted by Lashkar-e-Taiba," Intelligence sources said.
The information about the attack plan comes three months after a deadly car explosion near the historic Red Fort, in which 12 people were killed, and nearly two dozen were injured. The blast in a car loaded with explosives, which occurred near the Red Fort metro station gate, took place on November 10, 2025. As per the DNA results, a doctor of Al-Falah University, identified as Umar Mohammad, alias Umar Un Nabi, was driving the car, which triggered a fire in the vehicles nearby.
The incident took place on a day when 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, were found just 50 km from the capital, in neighbouring Haryana's Faridabad.
The suicide bomber reportedly panicked and triggered the blast near the Red Fort after investigators arrested two key members of the module, Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Adil Rather, and seized the explosives.
