Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the northern states are set to witness a cold wave and dense fog for the next few days. While providing details, the weather department stated that several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, and Jharkhand, are set to witness a drop in temperature in the upcoming days. It further stated that the hilly states are set to experience fresh snowfall, leading to a further drop in the temperature. The coastal regions of the southern states are set to witness light rain; however, the other regions will continue to witness a cold wave. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines to avoid any inconveniences.
UP, Bihar Weather Update
- Presence of dense fog in the early hours has affected the visibility
- Minimum temperature is likely to be calculated around 8-9 degrees Celsius, and maximum temperature is set to remain between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius
- The rural regions to experience cold wave conditions
- Air and rail traffic affected for the past few weeks
- In several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Varanasi, and Prayagraj, the fog has led to traffic congestion and has increased the risk of accidents.
Dense Fog Likely In Punjab, Haryana
- Dense fog is set to affect the visibility in several regions.
- Cold wave conditions are likely to continue in isolated regions till January 6.
- Minimum temperatures will remain significantly below normal.
Snowfall In J-K, Himachal
- Fresh snowfall likely in Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, and other upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir
- The region has witnessed a surge in the tourists.
- Light rain is expected on January 5 and 6.
- Light to moderate snowfall in Manali, Rohtang Pass, and Lahaul-Spiti
- Temperature has dropped in Shimla and Kullu.
