- IMD issues Orange Alert for Uttarakhand due to heavy rain

Weather Update: The fresh rainfall in the northern states has provided much-needed relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. While the rain has provided relief in the plain regions of the north, it also created chaos in regions like Uttarakhand and Mumbai. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon has now spread to large parts of northwest India.
Uttarakhand On High Alert
The weather department stated that very heavy rainfall is expected to continue in Maharashtra, Goa, Konkan, South Gujarat, and parts of central India for the next few days. The IMD has issued an 'Orange Alert' for the hilly regions of Uttarakhand today, stating that several regions are likely to experience flooding and landslides. The devotees coming for the Chardham Yatra and local residents have been advised to remain alert and to avoid traveling on hilly roads.
Rain Likely In Delhi-NCR
The IMD on Thursday issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Delhi and other nearby cities, including Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad. The weather department has stated that while the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 34 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26 degrees Celsius. The fresh rainfall has caused waterlogging in some regions, leading to inconveniences to the commuters.
IMD Issues Rain Alert For Bihar
Apart from this, the monsoon has fully activated in most districts of Bihar. As per the advisory issued by the weather department, several districts, including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, and Champaran, are set to receive more rainfall in the coming days. The farmers have been advised to limit their outings and to not hide beneath any big tree or electricity pole.
The weather department has issued warnings of thunderstorms and heavy rains in the western and eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh due to a surge in the monsoon activities.
