- Incidents highlight municipal negligence in pre-monsoon work.
A couple had a near escape in Gujarat's Junagarh after their bike crashed into a waterlogged pothole in the Azad Chowk area after rainfall on Thursday. The incident, caught on camera, has raised serious questions over the pre-monsoon plan of the Junagarh Municipal Corporation.
According to a report by Gujarati Jagran, the pothole was formed after no proper patchwork was done following a digging.
The CCTV footage shows that the motorcycle struck a pothole, causing it to overturn forward. The impact threw both riders forward, and they somersaulted over the motorcycle before landing ahead of it. The man could be seen struggling to stand still after the accident, apparently because of the head injuries. His wife, who was riding pillion on the bike, was holding him.
The biker was rushed to a hospital for treatment by the locals present at the site.

In another rain-related incident, a man and his two children fell into an open drain on a completely inundated road in Gir Somnath district. People present on the site immediately rushed to help. Their timely intervention saved a major mishap, and the trio was safely evacuated.
Locals allege that the pre-monsoon work done by the municipality is limited to paper only. Due to gross negligence in cleaning the drains and road works before the monsoon, the lives of innocent people have been put in danger today.
