Weather Update: Several states of North India, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar, have experienced a dip in temperature because of a cold wave and dense fog in the previous few days. Due to the dense fog, several of the flights and trains have been delayed in these regions as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh will experience heavy snowfall on Tuesday.
The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for dense fog in Delhi-NCR. The weather department stated that the national capital will experience dense fog, especially in the early hours of the day. While the minimum temperature in the state will be 11 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature is expected to remain around 18 degrees Celsius.
It further stated that the state will experience similar weather conditions on January 8, 9, and 10. Almost 150 flights were affected due to the dense fog in Delhi on Monday. Apart from this, the IMD on Monday released an orange alert for snowfall in the upper regions of Himachal Pradesh and rain for the plains of the state.
Several districts of Uttar Pradesh continued to experience a cold wave and dense fog on Monday. While two people died because of the cold in Fatehpur and Kanpur, one farmer died in Chitrakoot too. The weather department warned that the state will face similar weather conditions in the upcoming days. Several of the districts are expected to experience a cold wave and dense fog on January 7 and 8.
The weather department further stated that several districts of Haryana, including Sirsa, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bhivani, Jind, Ambala, and Karnal, are expected to experience a significant dip in temperature in the upcoming days. Similar weather conditions will be experienced by the residents of several districts of Punjab. The IMD has also forecast that Bengaluru will experience a dip in temperature in the upcoming days.
