Weather Update: Dense fog and extreme cold conditions are currently disrupting daily life across north, central, and eastern India. Prompting this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for dense fog, cold wave, and cold day conditions, with visibility likely to drop sharply in many regions during morning hours.

In the south, isolated areas of Tamil Nadu are experiencing heavy rainfall as the depression over Sri Lanka has weakened into a low-pressure area. Residents are advised to remain cautious and follow official weather updates to avoid inconvenience.

Dense Fog To Persist In Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi

- Dense to very dense fog is expected to blanket isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the morning hours, significantly impacting road, rail, and air travel.

- Similar dense fog conditions are likely to persist over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, as well as Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Jammu division in the coming days.

- Parts of Rajasthan are also on alert, as the heavy mist continues to disrupt regional transit and daily life across North India.

Severe Cold Wave Conditions In Delhi- NCR, Punjab, Jharkhand

- A relentless cold wave has tightened its grip on North India, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing an alert, forecasting severe cold wave conditions in isolated pockets of Rajasthan.

- Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh also remain under the grip of intense cold, with night temperatures hovering between 1 degree Celsius and 5 degrees Celsius.

- Jharkhand is also expected to witness a continuation of cold wave conditions over the coming days, with temperatures in districts like Gumla already dropping as low as 2. 2.8 degrees Celsius.

- Sub- zero temperatures were recorded across Jammu- Kashmir- Ladakh and parts of Himachal Pradesh. Ground frost has also been reported in isolated areas of Uttarakhand, News 24 reported.

Heavy Rain In Tamil Nadu As Depression Weakens

- In the south, a weakening weather system has triggered heavy rainfall at isolated locations across Tamil Nadu.

- The Meteorological Department stated that the depression centred over Sri Lanka has now weakened into a low- pressure area.

- In view of inclement weather conditions, the weather department has warned fishermen not to venture into parts of the Gulf of Mannar and the southwest Bay of Bengal due to unfavourable sea conditions.
