Weather Update:  The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rainfall alert for several states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. According to the latest weather forecast, these states are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by strong winds. Meanwhile, heavy rain lashed several districts of Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Monsoon rain continued to wreak havoc in Himachal Pradesh, leading to severe landslides, flooding, and widespread destruction across the state.

Weather Update: THESE States Are Likely To Receive Heavy Rainfall

Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy falls is likely over Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours. Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may also receive light to moderate rain with isolated heavy falls at one or two places. There is no sign of relief for Himachal Pradesh till July 21.

Heavy Rain Likely In Several Districts Of Himachal Pradesh

The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts on Thursday. The Paonta Sahib-Shilai-Gumma National Highway (NH) in Himachal was closed due to a landslide north of Shillai on Tuesday night. Due to this, heavy vehicles were stuck in the jam overnight. However, small vehicles are being sent through alternative routes.

Monsoon rain has caused widespread damage in Himachal Pradesh. According to the State Disaster Management Authority, as many as 106 people died and damage worth Rs 1000 crore was reported across the state due to torrential rain.

Bihar And Jharkhand Weather Update

Heavy rain lashed several parts of Bihar and Jharkhand on Wednesday. Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail on Thursday too. The IMD has issued a heavy rain alert for Bihar and Jharkhand during the next 24 hours.

Due to continuous rainfall in Bihar and Jharkhand, all the rivers of Bihar are in spate. Roads have been washed away at many places, and pressure on embankments has also increased. Four people are reported to have drowned in the flood in the Gaya district, Jagran.com reported. The bodies of two have been recovered.

Jammu And Kashmir Weather Update

The IMD has predicted floods and landslides in hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir as heavy rain is expected in several parts between July 17 to July 23. The weather department has advised the residents to avoid travelling to sensitive areas, especially be cautious in mountainous and landslide-prone areas.
