JE News Desk: Monsoon rain has wreaked havoc in several states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Delhi, and other parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an ‘orange’ alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. The alert was issued for July 24.

The IMD also predicted that extremely heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the Konkon, and ghat areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also called off the rescue operations in the landslide-hit village of Irshalwadi in Maharshtra’s Raigad district. The officials said that as many as 27 bodies have been recovered so far while 57 are untraceable, as reported by PTI.

While, incessant rainfall continued to lash several parts of Gujarat on Sunday, resulting in a flood-like situation in affected areas. Junagadh district was worst affected by heavy rainfall as multiple vehicles were swept away by overflowing rivers.

The NDRF also rescued three people including a pregnant woman on Sunday after they were trapped in Gujarat’s Mocha village due to severe waterlogging.

“As per information received from Police Inspector Madhavpur that a pregnant woman is trapped at Mocha village due to water logging, a team of 6th battalion NDRF conducted a rescue operation and safely rescued three persons," the NDRF said, as quoted by ANI. The weather department has also predicted heavy rainfall in the state in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, due to incessant rainfall in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, a surge in discharge from the Hathnikund Barrage into the Yamuna is also posing a risk of floods in Delhi. The water level in the Yamuna River was flowing above the danger level, reaching a level of 206.26 metres at the Old Railway Bridge in the national capital.

IMD Issues Orange Alert In Madhya Pradesh’s Four Districts

The MeT department has also stated that Madhya Pradesh will continue to witness heavy rainfall for the next five days. The weather department has also issued an ‘orange’ alert in four districts of the state including Ratlam, Chhindwara, Indore, and, Mandsaur.
