Monsoon 2023 Updates: Since the onset of the monsoon, heavy rains have battered parts of North India including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Delhi. Many lives and livelihoods were disrupted due to the heavy rainfall. In Delhi, people are struggling with the weather aftermath. Although the situation improves in many places, ITO, Civil Line, and Rajghat are among the areas of the national capital that are still reeling under the flood-like situation.

As several parts of the country continue to grapple with a flood-like situation, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for rainfall for several states for the next few days. 

These States To Receive Rainfall

The IMD has predicted rain in Himachal Pradesh for three days beginning from today. The state which is already facing the aftermath of the monsoon rain, will receive heavy showers from July 19 to July 23. The heavy rain is also expected in Uttarakhand on Friday and Saturday and east Rajasthan will experience till Saturday. As per the IMD weather bulletin, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is to occur in Central India next five days.

Madhya Pradesh is to receive isolated very heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Sunday while Vidarbha is expected to witness rain from July 19 to 20 and over Chhattisgarh, rain will occur from July 19 to 23.

"Light/moderate Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan during 19th-23rd; Himachal Pradesh on 20th & 21"; West Rajasthan on 19th July 2023. Isolated very heavy rainfall also very likely over Uttarakhand during 21' - 22nd and over East Rajasthan on 22nd July," IMD said.

Amid rain heavy rain predictions over parts of India, heavy showers lashed parts of Mumbai in Maharashtra. The IMD has issued a 'Red' alert for Palghar, and Raigad districts and an 'Orange' alert for Thane, Mumbai and Ratnagiri on Wednesday. 

Meanwhile, the water level of the Yamuna River continues to increase in Uttar Pradesh's Agra on Wednesday.
