JE News Desk:  Monsoon lashed several parts of India. From the Yamuna river in Delhi flowing above the danger mark to Himachal Pradesh reeling under flood, heavy rainfall has affected lives and damaged properties across the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued an alert for parts of Mumbai and Thane districts.

The weather department issued an orange alert for Palghar. A warning of heavy rainfall has also been given in the Palghar district on July 18.

According to the IMD, the intensity of rain will increase between July 19 and July 20 and most of the areas have been warned of heavy to very heavy rain (Orange Alert), said Palghar Collector Office.

"Isolated extremely heavy rainfall likely over Konkan and Goa, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 19th; Gujarat region on 19th and 20th and Saurashtra and Kutch on 19th July," read an official statement by IMD.

Earlier on Monday morning, heavy rains lashed parts of Mumbai, but the public transport services were not affected in the metropolis.

Heavy showers lashed Mahalakshmi, Byculla, Malabar Hill, Matunga, Sion, Bandra, Santacruz, Andheri and some other areas early in the morning, but the rain intensity reduced after 8 am.

According to a civic official, there was no route diversion of bus services of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking due to the rain. The IMD also predicted moderate rain with occasional intense spells in the city and suburbs.

Delhi Floods: Water Level Of Yamuna Recedes

The Yamuna water level dipped to 205.71 meters at 7 am on Tuesday from the 206.01 meters that was recorded around midnight in the national capital but it continues to remain above the danger level.

A "slight rise" was recorded in the water level on Monday due to rains that lashed some areas of Haryana a day earlier.

In view of the decrease in the water level of Yamuna, the Transport Department of the Delhi Government relaxed some of its travel restrictions.
