The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of severe cold waves and dense fog in many parts of North India for the next five days. Multiple regions like Punjab, East Uttar Pradesh and North Madhya Pradesh recorded cold wave conditions on Saturday while the minimum temperature is expected to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius in Eastern India. 

The met department also forecasted that Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh will experience dense to very dense fog during late night and morning hours till January 25. Similar fog conditions are also likely in many parts of Uttar Pradesh till January 24 and in different parts of Uttarakhand till January 23, stated IMD.

Bihar Weather Updates  

Most parts of Bihar, including the capital Patna are experiencing severe cold and dense fog due to the influence of cold winds. The cold wave is expected to continue till January 24, with no relief in sight. 

On Saturday, several districts such as Darbhanga, Buxar, Banka, Chhapra, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Jiradei, Kaimur, Dehri, Pusa, Agwanpur and Forbesganj were affected by the cold wave. Purnia witnessed very dense fog, while other districts such as Patna and Gaya had light fog.

The maximum temperature in Patna was recorded at 19.2 degrees Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Meanwhile, Despite light sunshine in the afternoon, people remained troubled by low temperatures.

Haryana Weather Updates 

A cold wave has been sweeping across Haryana since Saturday morning, forcing people to stay indoors and causing fluctuations in minimum and maximum temperatures. The IMD has also issued an orange alert in 10 districts and a yellow alert in 12 districts of the state warning of dense fog and low temperatures. 

The meteorologist department forecasted that the cold would intensify with the onset of the cold wave. On Saturday the minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Bhiwani district at 5.8 degrees Celsius.

Uttarakhand Weather Update

Uttarakhand is experiencing severe cold and fog, with no relief in sight. The Regional Meteorological Center (Dehradun) issued a yellow alert for Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts, where excessive fog disrupted life while stating that there is also a possibility of light fog in Dehradun.

On Saturday, some parts of the state saw light sunshine, but the temperatures remained below normal. The maximum temperature of Dehradun was 18.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 7.8 degrees Celsius. In Udham Singh Nagar, the maximum temperature was 17.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal and the minimum temperature was 8.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal.
