The University of Delhi (DU) signed a Statement of Cooperation with Russia’s National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University) on Friday to establish a Space Mirror Lab. The agreement was signed in the presence of DU's Vice Chancellor, Yogesh Singh.
The lab will be housed at DU's Faculty of Technology, according to the statement. The Statement of Cooperation (SOC) was signed by HSE University Rector Dr Nikita Anisimov and DU Registrar Dr Vikas Gupta. Senior officials present included HSE University Vice President Dr Manoj Sharma and Ms Anastasia Sergeeva.
The development comes after the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India for 23rd India-Russia summit. The Russian President arrived in the national capital on Thursday evening.
What is Space Mirror Lab?
The Space Mirror Lab will serve as a collaborative scientific facility between DU and HSE University focused on data storage, processing, and transmission within the space spectrum for academic research. This initiative is both visionary and ambitious.
Through this partnership, the two institutions will collaborate on joint research and educational projects that will benefit both India and Russia. Additionally, the lab will offer HSE University a platform to establish a campus presence in a foreign institution, fostering academic exchanges and promoting joint research initiatives.
