Weather Update: The weather in several states has suddenly changed in the past few days, reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several states, including Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal, are set to witness light to moderate rain for the next few days. Along with these Indian states, several regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan have also witnessed rain. The experts have pointed out that the rainfall is due to an unusual change in the weather pattern before the summer.
As per the weather department, the weather has changed significantly due to an upper-air cyclonic circulation that is currently active over northern Pakistan. The experts pointed out that a linear low-pressure western disturbance is creating a 1,000-kilometer-long rain band extending from Afghanistan through Pakistan to India. They stated that the Western Disturbances form during the winter months over the Mediterranean Sea, bringing snowfall and cold waves.

However, the western disturbance has become active in March, leading to heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong surface winds, and hailstorms in several regions. The untimely rain has reduced the temperature significantly, providing relief from the heat.
The experts asserted that the northern parts of India are witnessing rain due to the western disturbance, reported Jagran.com. The experts further explained that the moisture required for the formation of such a disturbance is evaporation occurring over the Mediterranean Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Black Sea, and the Persian Gulf.
The weather department has stated that along with the northern states, several other states, including West Bengal, Sikkim, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, are also set to witness moderate to heavy rain in the upcoming days. It further advised the residents of these states to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
