Operation Sindoor: Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, the officer who recently addressed the media about Operation Sindoor, is one of the Indian Air Force’s most senior and decorated leaders. As the current Director General Air Operations (DGAO), he plays a crucial role in planning and overseeing major air missions and strategic operations for the Indian armed forces.
During a recent press briefing, Air Marshal Bharti confirmed that the precision strikes carried out by India had achieved their intended impact. While he avoided sharing sensitive technical details, he assured that the weapons and methods used had delivered "the desired effects on enemy targets."

Responding to questions about possible Pakistani casualties, he firmly stated, "Our aim was not to inflict casualties, but in case there have been, it is for them to count. Our job is to hit the target, not to count the body bags," Air Marshal Bharti said, when asked about the loss of lives to the Pakistan Army.
Who Is Air Marshal AK Bharti?
Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti is a veteran officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF) and currently holds the position of Director General Air Operations (DGAO). He joined the IAF as a fighter pilot in 1987.
He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Defence Services Staff College, and the National Defence College. A seasoned fighter combat leader, Air Marshal Bharti has served in senior roles at the Eastern and Central Air Commands.
Between August 2005 and September 2007, he led a Sukhoi-30 MKI squadron, which took part in key military exercises such as Gagan Shakti, Indradhanush 2006 (in collaboration with the Royal Air Force), and Garuda 2007 (with the French Air Force).
