Armstrong Murder: A huge uproar erupted after K Armstrong, Tamil Nadu president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, was brutally hacked to death near his Chennai house. Amid the political and social outrage over lawlessness in the capital city, Chennai police claimed to have cracked the K Armstrong murder mystery on Saturday - within 36 hours of the incident. Tamil Nadu police arrested at least eight suspects who were allegedly involved in the heinous brutality.
According to the preliminary investigation by the City police, Armstrong's killing was an 'act of revenge', orchestrated by gang members of a slain gangster Arcot Suresh.
Why Armstrong Was Killed
A Dalit and Vellore native, Suresh, was not on good terms with K Armstrong. According to the Indian Express, Suresh supported a gold trading firm, which was allegedly involved in a Rs 2,438 financial scam and duped over 1 lakh investors.

Armstrong, being a prominent political face in Perambur, was supporting a few investors, who were cheated by the Arcot-linked company. He had promised them to get their money back from Arcot, leading to tensions between the two.
Arcot Suresh Was Murdered, Brother Baalu Avenged Him
According to the IE report, Suresh was killed by the gang of one Jayapal last year in 2023. His associates believed that Jayapal killed Arcot Suresh on the orders of Armstrong. Jayapal is currently lodged in jail, where he is also facing charges of extorting money from the investors in lieu of getting their investment back from the gold trading company.

Police have arrested the brother of Arcot Suresh - Balu in connection with Armstrong's shocking killing. According to city police, Baalu allegedly led the assailants who killed the Tamil Nadu BSP chief on Friday. Seven others have also been arrested by the Chennai police.

Armstrong Murder: How Police Cracked The Case
Chennai police tracked the eight assailants after an intense investigation into their mobile phone locations and bike registration details which were captured in CCTV cameras. Several reports claimed that they surrendered in front of Chennai police, fearing an encounter if they ran away.
47-year-old K Armstrong was killed on Friday while he was talking with his friends outside his house. The attackers butchered him to death with sickles and machetes. While his friends fled the scene, family members came rushing to the spot and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
