Bengaluru News: Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced on Sunday that the Congress party is committed to enhancing Channapatna and Bengaluru South district within the next three years. His statements were made during an event to thank party workers for their success in the recent Channapatna bypoll.

"The district has strengthened the Congress by electing four MLAs. Together, we will change Channapatna and Bengaluru South with development," Shivakumar stated. He expressed gratitude for the community's support and mentioned that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was unable to attend due to a leg injury.

Shivakumar commended the people of Channapatna for their political insight. "They have shown they cannot be misled," he remarked, choosing to avoid direct criticism of political rivals. He indicated that the electorate had sent a strong message to notable leaders such as Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy and Yediyurappa.

Reinforcing his commitment, Shivakumar said, "This constituency is my responsibility. We will collaborate to bring about change and regularly assess our progress."

Congress leader D K Suresh also addressed the gathering, promising to keep a close watch on the work of the four Congress MLAs. He stated that voters supported the party's development plans and guarantee schemes. "We have secured a Rs 600 crore grant and projects are already in progress," he confirmed.

Suresh also touched on the challenges faced by the Milk Producers' Cooperative Society, assuring that steps are being taken to resolve these issues. He announced that 300 acres of land have been earmarked for future initiatives and vowed that no official would engage in corrupt activities.

In the recent bypoll on November 13, 2024, Congress candidate C P Yogeshwar won the Channapatna seat, defeating JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy by 25,413 votes.
