In a devastating incident, an 18-year-old boy climbed to the edge of a hill in anger on Friday following a dispute with his father over an iPhone EMI in Maharashtra. The village sarpanch spent nearly three hours pleading with him, consoling him, and promising to fulfil his every demand to get the boy to come down. However, he fell from the cliff, and his parents also fell while trying to rescue him.
The incident took place in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on Friday. The boy has been identified as Kunal, a resident of the Devlai area in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, who had recently purchased an iPhone but was unable to pay the monthly instalments. He was demanding money from his family.
When they refused, he got into a heated argument with his father. Around 10:00 AM, Kunal left home, climbed the Khavalya hill in the Tisgaon area, and threatened to die by suicide.
However, the boy did not agree, and while trying to rescue him, the parents also fell off the cliff, resulting in the tragic deaths of all three.
'I Have to Die, This is the Only Way': What Boy Said
In an effort to save the boy, the village sarpanch attempted to console him by saying, "Hey brother, I am the village sarpanch. Come on! Oh, whatever... you're being crazy... come on, we will buy you whatever you want. In the village... let's go! Hey, whatever it is... you're losing your mind... come, we will get you whatever you wish for. Back to the village... just come down."
When the boy didn't budge, the sarpanch added, "Is this the only solution now? There is no solution. What do you think? Whose... is your name going to become great just because you jump? Live for your mother! What will you gain by jumping? Just live for your mother."

For nearly three hours, locals, the village sarpanch, police, and firefighters tried to save him by talking. Some offered him an iPhone 15 Pro. Despite their repeated requests, he refused to descend, saying, "I must die. This is the only way." This is the only way."
