Karnataka BJP leader and former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, after returning from Delhi to Bengaluru on Saturday, said that he will appear before the court on June 17 in relation to the POCSO case registered against him. His statement came after the Karnataka High Court stayed a non-bailable warrant against the BJP leader, who in a letter volunteered to appear before the court himself.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Yediyurappa said that he went to Delhi for scheduled work and he will appear for the trial on June 17.

"I went to Delhi as part of a scheduled program. I have already informed that I will come for the trial on the 17th of this month. The High Court has also issued an injunction. I am going to the trial on Monday. They did the work of causing unnecessary confusion," he said.

Warning 'unnamed' people behind the POCSO case, the prominent Lingayat leader said that people will give answers to those who are playing tricks.

"I am not complaining to anyone. Time will decide everything. People know what the truth is. Those who are doing tricks, the people will teach them a lesson," he added.

Bengaluru Court's Non-Bailable Warrant & HC's Stay

Earlier, the High Court stayed a non-bailable warrant against Yediyurappa in a POCSO case in connection to an alleged sexual assault by him on a minor girl. The Bengaluru court, while issuing the warrant, directed his immediate arrest. However, the Karnataka High Court stayed it after Yediyurappa promised to appear before the police and trial court on June 17.

"Everyone knows everything, and I have full faith in the judiciary. I will get justice. I will appear before the court on 17 June," the former Chief Minister said today.

POCSO Case Against BS Yediyurappa

Yediyurappa was booked under the POCSO Act and Section 354A (Sexual Harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a mother filed a complaint alleging molestation of her daughter by the BJP leader at his residence in February this year. Later, the brother of the victim filed a petition in the High Court seeking directions, as no progress was made by the police in the case despite the FIR.
