Noida News: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) announced on Thursday that the authority will compensate farmers within 72 hours of land registry and possession. YEIDA has taken the move to make the land acquisition process easy and ensure that farmers are compensated well and promptly for their lands.

YEIDA has come up with the decision to compensate farmers within 72 hours, so that farmers do not have to struggle with the compensation process, and development work can be expidited.

According to an official, quoted by Hindustan Times, the move will help in the procurement of land without any litigation. The authority will prioritise timely payments to farmers, resolving the long-standing issue of delayed compensation that previously took months, sparked protests, and hindered development projects.

“The authority has decided to speed up land acquisition to support settlement and industrial activities. Timely compensation will also allow construction and development work to begin without hindrance. We want the farmers to get their full compensation with ease without waiting for long, as the farmers play a pivotal role in the development,” said Yeida's chief executive officer, RK Singh.

The government has allocated Rs 3,000 crore to the authority to acquire land near the airport and other infrastructure development projects in the area. An additional amount of Rs 2,000 crore is expected to be released soon.

In the upcoming phase, the authority plans to acquire more than 1,800 hectares, benefitting nearly 14,000 farmers. The Yeida has already disbursed compensation of over Rs 8,000 crore to around 7,000 farmers for 2,400 hectares of land acquired in the first two phases. In the upcoming phase.
