Zubeen Garg Death Case: Several people were injured on Wednesday after a mob gathered outside Assam’s Baksa district jail and threw stones at a convoy. The convoy was transporting five men arrested in connection with Zubeen Garg's death to a newly constructed prison complex located about 100 kilometres from Guwahati.

In response, the police fired warning shots into the air to disperse the mob, which had grown to several hundred people. According to the police, prohibitory measures were enforced in Mushalpur town and the areas surrounding the jail. Additionally, mobile internet services were suspended across the Baksa district to restore law and order.

“We had to resort to force to control the situation, and now (at 6pm) it has returned to normal in the areas in and around the district jail. Additional forces have been deployed to maintain law and order. I would appeal to all to not resort to violence and take law into their own hands,” Hindustan Times, Akhilesh Singh, inspector general of police (law and order), as saying.
