Students in Jharkhand’s government schools will receive textbooks and notebooks at the start of the next academic session, the state government announced. The Department of School Education and Literacy has directed the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) to initiate separate tender processes for the publication of textbooks and the supply of notebooks and school bags.
Publishers and agencies awarded the work orders are required to deliver the materials to Block Resource Centres (BRCs) within three months. Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, textbooks are provided free of cost to students from classes one to eight, while students from classes nine to twelve receive textbooks funded by the state budget.
Notebooks will be supplied under the Vidyalaya Kit Yojana (School Kit Scheme) for students from classes one to twelve, and school bags will be provided to students from classes one to eight.
The JEPC has also set the colours and standards for the school bags: pink for classes one and two, sky blue for classes three to five, and dark blue for classes six to eight. Each bag will display the Jharkhand government logo along with the inscription, “Distributed free by the Department of School Education and Literacy.”
