The Jharkhand High Court has ordered a probe into alleged irregularities in the high school teacher appointment merit list. Justice Deepak Roshan constituted a fact-finding committee headed by retired Justice SN Pathak to examine the matter.

The decision came while hearing a batch of 252 petitions, including one filed by Meena Kumari and others, challenging the merit list. Petitioners’ counsels, senior advocates Ajit Kumar, Chanchal Jain, and Tejaswita Safalta, argued that the merit list was not prepared in line with

Supreme Court guidelines and contained several errors. They demanded an independent inquiry. The state government, however, defended the list, asserting that it had been prepared strictly as per the Supreme Court’s directions.

The committee will now verify the merit list and submit its findings to the High Court.
