The Jharkhand government has announced that 25 per cent of seats in BDS and BHMS courses at private institutions will now be reserved for students from the state. According to a notification issued by the Health Department, 60 per cent of seats will fall under the All India quota, while 15 per cent will be reserved for the NRI quota.
The department has directed the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) to implement this new seat division, effective from the first round of counselling. The allocation will apply through the first, second, and third rounds.

Any vacant seats after these rounds will be filled in a mop-up round, with All India and NRI quota seats treated as All India seats. At least a week’s gap will be maintained between the mop-up round and admissions, and if seats remain vacant, a special counselling session will be held at the national level.
Meanwhile, JCECEB has postponed the second round of counselling for MBBS, BDS, and BHMS courses following directions from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
The round, which began on September 6 and was scheduled to conclude on September 19, was delayed due to increased seat availability at some institutions. Officials said new dates for counselling will be announced soon.
