Jharkhand Police have uncovered an organised prostitution racket being run from the Om Girls’ Hostel in the Lalpur area of Ranchi. Acting on a tip-off, a special police team raided the hostel on Sunday morning and took 10 women from West Bengal into custody.
Investigations revealed that clients were booked via WhatsApp, and the women were transported directly from the hostel to hotels. A man posing as their guardian managed the operations, finalised deals with clients online, and arranged vehicles to ferry the women. They were dropped back at the hostel after the meetings, with no direct contact between them and the clients.

According to police, some of the women had arrived in Ranchi just 10 days ago, while others had been staying for a month. Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha ordered the raid after receiving information about the racket.
The City DSP confirmed that the main accused, a resident of Ranchi, has been identified but is absconding. The role of the hostel operator is also under investigation, and legal action is being initiated.

Police are now examining CCTV footage, registers, and hotel booking details to trace the full extent of the network, which is suspected to be active in other parts of the city as well. During the raid, a crowd gathered at the scene, with bystanders recording videos as police escorted the women out. Similar prostitution rackets have been busted in the capital in the past.
