A Bangladeshi national, attempting to flee to Malaysia on an Indian passport obtained with forged documents, was apprehended by the immigration team at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow. 

Identified as Naseem, the accused, was a resident of Bandarban in Chittagong, Bangladesh, and had been living in Unnao’s Safipur for over 10 years.

According to the officials, he obtained his residence certificate from the Unnao tehsil (administrative division), using which he acquired an Aadhaar card and later applied for a passport. After document verification and police clearance, he was issued a passport number R 9857356.

Naseem, during his attempt to flee to Kaula Lampur, on Saturday, was detained by the FRRO Lucknow team after being interrogated over suspicion of his accent. As per the investigation, the accused was active on a Facebook group chat with a Bangladeshi village. Several contacts from Bangladesh were also discovered on his phone.

His YouTube history also contained numerous Bengali songs and searches. Officials further discovered that he had recently travelled to Tripura in August 2025, with a return ticket from Agartala to Kolkata saved on his phone.

Confronted with evidence, Naseem admitted he was a Bangladeshi national. His network of Bangladeshi contacts and forged Indian documents is now under investigation by authorities.
