Unhealthy Lifestyle Habits That Cause Constipation: Among several digestive problems, constipation is the most common experienced by people of all ages. Constipation is commonly referred to as a health condition in which you experience difficulty in passing stool or passing fewer than three stools a week. Some common symptoms of constipation include fewer than three stools a week, hard, dry or lumpy stools, straining or pain when passing stools, a feeling that not all stool has passed or that the rectum is blocked and the need to use a finger to pass stool. Some unhealthy lifestyle habits can put you at a higher risk of suffering from constipation. Here is the list of those habits that you should eliminate now to prevent constipation.

1. Not Moving Enough

According to WebMD, if you don't exercise or you spend a lot of time just sitting, you can get constipated. It can be a problem for people who have to stay in bed a lot or just can't move much because of a health problem.

2. Not Eating Enough Fibre

Incorporating fibre-rich foods into your diet is important to enhance your digestive system and its functioning. Eating fibre-rich foods helps keep more water and bulk in your intestines. This further makes stools softer and easier to pass and when you do not get enough fibre, you are at higher risk of experiencing constipation.

3. Not Drinking Enough Water

Hydration is an important factor when it comes to preventing constipation. According to WebMD, you do not have to focus on drinking a certain number of glasses of water a day. Instead, keep a bottle of water with you and remember to drink from it all day.

4. Escaping Need To Excrete

One of the common reasons people experience constipation is escaping the urge or need to excrete as they find themselves between important tasks or for some other reasons. But no matter where you are, you should always use restrooms as soon as you feel the urge to.

5. Medications

According to WebMD, some drugs and supplements that you take for other conditions can cause constipation. This can include antacids, narcotics, antidepressants, and drugs that treat high blood pressure, as well as iron supplements.
