Essential oils are potent powerhouses when properly diluted with carrier oils, targeting specific hair concerns. From tea tree oil to peppermint oil, these essential oils soothe scalp irritation while promoting hair growth. Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that capture the natural scent and beneficial properties of the source plant and are 100% pure, undiluted and naturally extracted via cold pressed and steam distillation process to ensure high concentration and maximum potency.
In a conversation with Jagran English, Ms. Natasha Tuli, Co-Founder, Soulflower and Clean Beauty Expert listed some popular types of essential oils that will help to treat various hair concerns.
Essential Oils For Hair Growth
Tea Tree Oil (Dandruff)
Celebrated for its antifungal properties, tea tree oil effectively combats malassezia, the root cause of dandruff. It also possesses antibacterial properties that can help prevent scalp infections. These characteristics make it a potentially valuable weapon against malassezia, a fungus that can trigger dandruff. It may help control flaking and itching associated with dandruff.
Rosemary Oil (Healthy Scalp & Promoting Regrowth)
As mentioned in the carrier oils section, rosemary oil promotes hair growth by stimulating scalp circulation and can also help control dandruff with its antimicrobial properties. Scientifically proven to improve hair growth and thickness, encourage baby hair growth and improve memory and blood circulation to the scalp.
Argan Oil (Controls Frizz)
Rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, Argan oil acts as a deep conditioner, nourishing the scalp and reducing frizz and hair follicles. This can help strengthen hair strands, reduce breakage and promote healthy hair growth.
Peppermint Oil (Prevents Irritation & Promote Hair Growth)
Similar to peppermint oil in the light hair oil blend, this essential oil offers a cooling sensation and can help control irritation and redness on the scalp.

Lavender Oil (Soothed Scalp)
As mentioned in the carrier oils section, lavender oil soothes an itchy scalp and promotes a healthy scalp environment with its mild antiseptic properties.
Moreover, the expert also said that carrier oils are natural oils derived from seeds, nuts or other plant parts used to dilute essential oils for safe application on the skin as they help "carry" the essential oils and prevent irritation. Some of the more common carrier oils are coconut, castor, olive and bringhraj, among others.
