Fruit Pairs To Never Juice: Many people enjoy creating blends of fruits that are both nutritious and tasty, often with the belief that any combination is good for you. However, certain fruit pairings should be avoided due to their potential to cause digestive issues or hinder nutrient absorption. While fruits are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, mixing certain fruits can result in uncomfortable bloating, acidity or a lack of optimal digestion.
This is because some fruits when combined can cause a clash in their digestive processes, leading to a less efficient breakdown and absorption of nutrients. Additionally, some fruit combinations can affect your body’s ability to absorb sugars or enzymes properly which can lead to digestive discomfort or even nutrient imbalances. Here are 5 fruit pairs that you should never juice or even eat together.
Fruit Pairs To Never Juice And Eat Together
Citrus Fruits and Dairy
Combining citrus fruits like oranges or grapefruits with dairy products such as milk or yoghurt may seem like a refreshing idea for a smoothie or juice. However, this combination can lead to digestive issues.
Melons and Other Fruits
When melons are combined with other fruits, especially those high in fibre or sugar like apples or bananas, the digestion process can be delayed. Melons require a faster digestive transit and when paired with slower-digesting fruits they can ferment in the stomach.
Bananas and Acidic Fruits
Bananas are a starchy fruit and when they are consumed with highly acidic fruits such as pineapples, oranges, or strawberries, it can lead to digestive difficulties.
Apples and Pears with Citrusy Fruits
Apples and pears are high in fructose, a natural sugar that takes longer to digest while citrus fruits like oranges or grapefruits are acidic and digest more quickly. When these two groups of fruits are combined, it can lead to digestive discomfort, bloating and gas.
Avocados and Tropical Fruits
While avocados are highly nutritious and rich in healthy fats, combining them with tropical fruits such as pineapples, mangoes or papayas can slow down the digestive process.
