Common Hair Oiling Mistakes: A minimum of twice-a-week hair washing, conditioning, type-appropriate hair products, hair oiling, and hair masks for improved health and nourishment comprise the perfect hair care regimen. Although most of us still struggle with hair care issues even when we follow a decent routine religiously. Little do we know that our hair health is largely influenced by several things, including improper hair oiling techniques.

Oiling is an important haircare step that nourishes the hair follicles in the scalp and strengthens the roots, thus preventing hair fall. However, there are some common mistakes that we all commit while oiling our hair that may contribute to unhealthy tresses and manes.

Common Hair Oiling Mistakes To Avoid

Using Too Much Hot Oil

Using hot oil to massage your hair instead of warm oil is one of the most frequent hair care errors we make. Dandruff and irritation can be brought on by over-applying heated oil to the hair and scalp.

Applying Oil To Wet Hair

Using oil on damp hair is another common hair-oiling mistake that almost all of us make due to hectic schedules. Wet hair is more prone to breaking, thus it is best to avoid oiling it. Even mild straining might result in hair fall.

After an oil massage, you should immediately refrain from tying your hair up firmly with a rubber band as if you do this, it puts undue strain on your scalp and increases the risk of breakage, damage, and headaches. After you're done massaging, you should tie your hair up in a loose braid.

Keeping Oil Overnight

It is not necessary to keep your hair oil overnight if you intend to oil your scalp. Skin conditions like acne, rashes, irritation, and many more might result from this practice. As a result, oil should never be kept overnight; instead, it should be applied around two hours before shampooing.

Applying Too Much Oil

Never apply too much oil when massaging your hair and only use a small amount. Hair oiling must be done within a specific amount, just like moisturising. Never forget that washing off the oil you use to massage your scalp will be more difficult the more oil you apply.
