Summer Foods That Cause Digestive Problems: The weather of rising temperatures usually makes us uncomfortable due to excessive humidity. Summers also cause digestive problems such as gas, bloating, constipation and others, majorly due to our eating habits. In this season, we usually choose foods and beverages that can help in cooling down the body temperature. Summers demand to be mindful of your dietary modifications to avoid digestive problems. Consuming excessive amounts of fried, greasy foods and spicy foods can also cause indigestion as these foods take longer to digest. Therefore, it is important to eliminate foods from your summer diet that have the potential to cause indigestion. Here is a list of certain foods that you should avoid in summer for a healthy and happy body.

Spicy Foods

The most common and obvious foods that you should avoid in summer are spicy foods. These foods may have adverse effects on your pitta dosha, which is based on fire and water. This can lead to an increase in body heat and cause excessive sweating. Therefore, always try to avoid spicy foods in your diet.

Processed Foods

Processed foods are usually foods that have been changed from their natural state. They are the kinds of foods that have been altered in some way during the preparation process. They are usually pasteurised, canned, dried, mixed or dehydrated. Therefore, try to eliminate processed foods from your diet as they can cause water retention and cause dehydration.

Fried Foods

Fried foods should be avoided in all seasons as they cause several digestive problems. These foods are usually high in salts and other spices that may disturb the stomach lining and cause indigestion. They can also contain high amounts of oil that can cause skin care problems such as acne or breakouts.

Coffee

Although we can’t imagine a day without our cup of coffee, one should avoid excess intake of coffee in the summer. The caffeine present in coffee can trigger the body to release more sweat and release heat. Coffee contains diuretics which may cause the body to make more urine than usual which may lead to the release of more water through urine from the body.

Sugary Foods

Eating large amounts of sugary foods can increase body temperature and metabolism, leading to disturbances in the digestion process. It can also lead to spikes in blood sugar and buildup of fat in the body.
