Do you know that maintaining good mental health involves regular physical exercise? Endorphins, sometimes known as "feel-good" hormones, are released when you exercise and can help reduce tension, worry, and despair. Moreover, exercise improves sleep quality, sharpens the mind, and raises self-esteem.

Not only that, but regular exercise has also been connected to a lower risk of mental health issues and can be helpful in the management of illnesses like depression and ADHD. In addition to its physiological advantages, daily exercise's routine and discipline can give one a feeling of accomplishment and structure, which can improve mental health in general.

According to Dr. Ashima, "physical exercise plays a pivotal role in promoting mental well-being, serving as an indispensable component of comprehensive mental health care. Numerous empirical studies consistently underscore the positive correlation between regular physical activity and mental wellness. Engaging in exercise induces the release of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and endorphins, which are fundamental in regulating mood and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Moreover, it fosters neurogenesis, the formation of new neurons, particularly in brain regions associated with cognitive functions and emotional regulation."

In addition, she said, "Physical exercise also functions as a powerful stress management tool by mitigating the physiological effects of stress on the body. It helps modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, thereby regulating cortisol levels, which play a pivotal role in the stress response. Furthermore, consistent exercise contributes to enhanced sleep quality, a critical factor in maintaining mental well-being. Adequate sleep is essential for cognitive functioning, emotional resilience, and overall psychological equilibrium."
