In a conversation with Jagran English, Dr. Vasudha, a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at Rainbow Children's Hospital in Marathahalli, discussed the five most important foods to reduce the risk of sarcoma in kids.
According to Dr. Vasudha, sarcoma is a rare cancer that occurs in a child’s soft tissues or bones. For these young patients, improving their prognosis and guaranteeing a higher quality of life depend critically on prompt diagnosis and efficient treatment. It goes without saying how necessary it is to focus on and follow a good diet for any person suffering from cancer. It becomes even more important in the case of kids. Most children lose a lot of energy due to vomiting and diarrhea caused by radiation and chemotherapy. This is why they need to eat well at all times and stay hydrated.
Liquids
Water is the key agent responsible for every bodily function, from digestion to excretion. Your child needs the required amount of nutrition during this tough time. Because nutritional supplements may interact with medications or therapies, potentially decreasing their efficacy or producing unpleasant side effects, it is typically advised to avoid them during cancer treatment. That's why it's so important that your child not take any supplements unless their doctor specifically advises them to.
