Dream interpretation is the process of assigning meanings to dreams. There are many probabilities regarding whether dreams reveal your hidden fears and desires or are just reflections of daily life. Have you ever dreamt about the death of someone you know or your loved one? Let’s explore what it means to see what it probably means to see the death of near or dear ones.

What It Means To See Death Of Someone In Dreams

Healthline states that Dreaming about someone’s death can mean you are worried about them. Although, death can also mean a change or transition. Such dreams may be part of the mourning process or a reflection of the fact that you miss someone who’s no longer in your life. People grieving the death of a romantic partner may feel a continuing bond with their loved ones when they dream about them, according to a 2021 study by PubMed.

Also, if you aren’t terminally ill or mourning a loved one, however, your dream may not be about death at all. Instead, death may represent change or a period of transition. Healthline explains that for example, if you woke up feeling scared and anxious, you might consider whether you’re stressed out about changes in your life or fearing the unknown. While if you woke up feeling good, perhaps you’re accepting that something in your life is ending and you’re embracing a new beginning.

When you dream about a loved one dying, it might be due to changes whether perceived or actual to your relationships, states Healthline. On the other hand, dreaming about dying yourself in your dream can also signify a major transition in life. Dreaming about the death of a friend could signify concern for that person. It could also mean that your friendship is undergoing change or that you’d prefer to be free of this person, as per Healthline.

According to the popular Psychologist Sigmund Freud, dreams are a collection of memories, ideas, experiences, and incidents, present and stored in our unconscious mind, of which we are sometimes unaware. Our consciousness is just the tip of the iceberg, and beneath it lie layers of our subconscious. Our dreams thus, in a way, bring forth what lies in our subconscious mind. That’s why, if we are somehow able to interpret them, it would help us to know ourselves better.
