Unhealthy Protein Sources: Protein is an important nutrient for immune system function, muscle repair and the synthesis of hormones and enzymes. Although getting adequate protein is crucial, not all sources of this macronutrient are equally good for your health. When ingested regularly or in excess, several common foods high in protein can provide serious dangers.
Foods high in protein might also contain excessive sodium, refined carbs, harmful fats or artificial additives, all of which can lead to the development of long-term health issues like diabetes, obesity and heart disease. Here are some unhealthy protein sources that you should eliminate from your diet.
Unhealthy Protein Sources
Processed Meats
Processed meats like bacon, sausages, hot dogs and deli meats are high in unhealthy fats, sodium and preservatives which can be harmful to your health. Processed meats are high in cholesterol and saturated fats which raises the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Fried Foods
Although the flavour and texture of deep-fried proteins such as fish fillets, chicken wings and other battered meals may be pleasing, they are by no means a healthy protein option. Large amounts of harmful oils, particularly trans fats which are known to increase bad cholesterol and decrease good cholesterol are absorbed by food when it is fried.

Fast Food Burgers And Fried Chicken
Fast food options like fried chicken and hamburgers are quick but they are usually heavy in sodium, unhealthy fats and calories. These foods are made with processed meat patties or batter-coated fried chicken, both of which are high in saturated and trans fats.
Protein Bars
Protein shakes and bars are common convenience foods, particularly for people who want to eat quickly on the go or fuel their activities. However, a lot of protein bars and shakes are loaded with artificial sweeteners, additional sugars, preservatives and poor protein isolates.
